What exactly makes Wayne Rooney any good?

I never thought he was any good. I mean how many goals has he scored?
Wayne Rooney is no better than Santa Cruz, Yakuba, or Benjami. Actually they all are quite good and way better than Rooney.
And no I'm not saying this because I'm an Arsenal fan and dislike Man Utd. Because I also think Theo Walcott is overated and was a waste of money.
He should not be compared with great players like Messi and Zlatan.
Actually he is not as good as most think

wayne rooney is a good player his work rate is exceptional on the pitch and a great partnership with ronaldo. His only got 10goals this season. due to the injury he suffered but his back now and he will start scoring goals.And if you've known his unselfish thats why he has alot of assist.
Benjani,santa cruz and yakuba better then rooney? thats total crap u dont watch much of him to say that his no good watch him play and u will see.

wow you get some incredibley dumb questions on this. what makes him any good… hmm lets see. why dont you watch him and see for yourself. You dont have to score loads of goals and he is not better than Roque Santa Cruz? fact for you .. Rooney has score more goals for Manchester Utd alone than Santa Cruz has in his entire club career and hes how many years older ? same goes for Benjani. so the " how many goals has he scored? " how is that any way to show that he isnt good, and he tends to play off the striker and drifts into wide positions, hed probably be considred more of a playmaker. Hes a Quality player. all those players you noted arent even in the same league as Rooney

Wayne rooney is definitly overrated overhyped and overpaid I dont think he is as good as people say he is. Dont get it wrong I think Rooney is a world class player just not as good as people say he is. I will say this about him though He has a pretty good shot and he is able to rotate to midfield on occasion making him somewhat versatile. However when Rooney is a little child compared to some other strikers like Henry do you think Rooney is on the same skill level as henry pfff not a chance. Lots of others as well like Ibrahimovic , Robinho, Eto, Adriano, etc etc…

He doesn't have to dribble circles around people to be a good player,
if you had a true appreciation for football, you'd see everything he does do.
Take Ronaldo's goal at the end of the Man Utd Reading match on the weekend, watch Rooney's run. Watch what he does to the sole defender.
He's not just a striker, he's also a playmaker, he can play anywhere on the wings as well.
And don't forget he's been out for half of this season injured.

I can't believe you refuse to accept how good a player he is.
Actually, I do remember you saying that you only usually watch Arsenal, Man City and I think Blackburn in the English premier league and you are an Arsenal fan so that would explain it.
